(Ed: I didn’t take any photos from these two days, so here are some random ones from before.)
Nov 20: Grandpa and Uncle Tierachai saw each other for the first time in ten years today.

I appear to be sick again. Stomach hurts. We leave for Beijing at 1:00am.
Nov 21: Feeling better, but the flight from Bangkok at 1:00am sucked.

Been at PEK for hours. Took subway into Beijing but we were both too tired and cold to do anything. Ended up coming back to the airport.
Had breakfast at Kenny Roger’s. It was kind of nie to have pseudo-American food.
Flight delayed from 15:30 to 17;30. We’ll have to catch another flight from SFO to PDX.
Sitting across from a guy who apparently came to China to pick up his wife’s son from another father. The kid misbehaves a little and the guy goes off on how in America (emphasis) you can’t do that. “In America, that would be a problem. That would be a big problem.”
Didn’t get to SFO until 12:40, and they changed our flight to PDX to leave at 1:15 so we couldn’t check in for it. Now we’re on standby for a 7:00PM flight, and only confirmed for a 10:00PM flight. This is ridiculous.
(Ed: And that’s it. I think we spent a total of 36 hours traveling to get back to Portland at 10:00 or 11:00PM. Unfortunately, by this point in the trip I was both tired and sick, so I didn’t document or photograph as much as I would have liked.)
